The Freedom Fatty e-Bike is Wing’s take on a powerful fat bike. With quality, style, speed, and affordability in mind, the Freedom Fatty 2 does not disappoint. Even though it is Wing’s least expensive choice of e-Bike, it’s still packed with excellent specifications and features.
This e-Bike is equipped with a powerful motor and durable tires that compensate for the best ride possible. Whether you’re a daily e-Bike commuter or ride for sport on rough terrain, the Freedom Fatty may be your ideal choice. Especially if you’re looking for a great value.
If you are a speed demon, this is the part you have been waiting for. Wing’s Freedom Fatty 2 is built with a 36V/750W Bafang electric motor and an impressive 80Nm of torque. This zippy motor makes it unique from the rest of the Freedom line as the largest and most powerful motor yet. It allows you to reach the top speed of 25mph in a matter of seconds.
The Freedom Fatty 2 gives you a choice between an 8.8Ah or a 10.4Ah battery which allows travel ranges of 35 and 45 miles max, respectively. The battery is detachable and weighs about 5 pounds, making it very convenient. The battery is also integrated into the frame, which allows the bike to provide a sleek look compared to other e-Bikes with powerful batteries and motors.
Also detachable, you can either charge the battery on the frame or separately. The battery weighs about 5 pounds and takes around 4 hours to charge fully. At full charge with the larger battery choice, you can expect to travel up to 50 miles depending on the usage of power.
Freedom Fatty 2 has five levels of pedal assist and Shimano Tourney 7-speed 11-28T freewheel gears and Shimano RapidFire mechanical shifters. The brakes are cable 180mm stainless steel mechanical disc brakes that provide decent stopping force. Once the brakes are pulled, the motor and pedal assist turn off.
Unlike the Freedom X or Freedom ST, the Freedom Fatty 2 is built with only one simple color option – black. The frame is made of sturdy lightweight aluminum alloy 6061, and the 90mm stem, saddle post, and handlebars are all made from high polish alloy. The handlebars offer a straight-line design, which is different from the Freedom X or Freedom ST. Those offer a pulled-back aerodynamic style. An optional handlebar riser comes in the box for those who want a higher reach. The Freedom Fatty 2 is made to fit riders between 5’2” and 6’3”.
The tires are 20*4inch Kenda Krusader fat tires resistant to puncture and wrapped around double-walled aluminum alloy rims. The tires bring this e-Bike more up to the likeness of fat bikes in terms of off-road conquering that allows room for comfort. The cool thing about this e-Bike is that even with bigger tires and battery options, it still weighs the same 39 pounds as its lesser counterparts.
The Freedom Fatty 2, just like its family of Freedom e-Bikes, has a built-in anti-theft alarm and locking system built into the frame. It comes with a key fob like a vehicle that allows the rider to lock/unlock remotely. The movement sensors within the bike employ a deafening alarm that will sound at the slightest instance of tampering. If the bike continues to move while it’s locked, the 110dB alarm carries on.
The Freedom Fatty 2 has powerful LED lights integrated into the front and the back of the bike. With a white display on the front and a red display on the back, the rider can be at ease day or night. It also comes with a useful digital display mounted on the left handlebar that shows the rider their speed, distance, assist level, battery level, horn control, and activates the lights. While other Freedom designs make use of LCDs that are centered, for the price of the Freedom Fatty 2 the digital display is still fair and worth the money.
Starting at $1,298, Wing’s rendition of a fat bike is very affordable and practical. Wing provides a 1-year warranty for the frame, battery, and electric components, which is pretty standard. Overall, for a lightweight all-terrain bike with safety features, headlights, and speed, what better price can you ask for?
Wing’s Freedom Fatty 2 might be best suited for riders of all sizes looking for a sturdy and stylish all-terrain e-Bike. With pedal assist alone, the bike gets up to 25mph which makes it a great Class 3 e-Bike for the price. The weight of the e-bike is decent considering the type of e-bike that it is, and experienced riders will appreciate the speed, handling, and overall look and feel of the Freedom Fatty 2.
