Named Best Electric Bike for Families by Bicycling Magazine.
Expert Review :Americans have known Radio Flyer wagons for over a hundred years. Founded in 1917 by Italian immigrant Antonio Pasin, the company’s name became linked in the popular culture with the iconic red wagon that millions of American kids grew up with, and have used for a million purposes, from the transportation of goods to animal friends and much more. And while they’re known most directly for their namesake wagon, the company has gone on innovating and introducing fun products, from kid’s bikes to scooters and go-karts, and even a miniature Tesla Model S in recent years.
Riding the wave of electric-powered transportation that they mimicked with a child-sized Tesla, though, the company has now sprung into the electric bike world with their well-designed fat-tire eBikes for adults, available in two model styles. The M880 is a rugged urban transport device built to get riders to work or to play in style, without breaking a sweat along the way. Intentionally designed with a rugged, ready-to-work look and feel, the M880 has a rear rack to haul a payload of up to 300 pounds with pedal-assist power, up to 20MPH, provided by the rear hub electric motor.
The company that made a name in hauling things, for kids, anyway, with their little red wagon, has gone big in cargo-hauling potential in the adult world, as well. Well, half their name made the transition, anyway, as the rebranded Flyer name features in large letters on the downtube of their eBikes. The L885 model is a longtail eBike with extra space out back over the rear wheel for hauling kids or goods. Accessories with the Flyer name come in a wide range of options, from their unique Kid & Cargo basket meant to hold a couple of children or a bunch of stuff on a pair of big tires and a sturdy frame that’s rated to haul up to 500 pounds.
While the old Radio Flyer name may be a throwback to memories of fun with a mini-wagon, the rebranded Flyer name looks to the future of electric-assist transportation–yes, for fun, but with practical, family-oriented results firmly in mind, as well. Both the M880 and L885 mean serious business when it comes to getting around town in style, with some power assist in your pedals.
