Founded on a vision of creating an all-around great bike that’s easy to own and a joy to ride, Priority Bicycle Company aims to make quality bikes for recreational riders. The electric bike they’ve created is designed to be affordable and to minimize a lot of the routine maintenance that is typical of bikes.

The company launched with a Kickstarter aiming to raise just $30,000. The fundraiser was a big success, with 1,500 bicycles reserved during the funding campaign and a total of $565,000 in funding. Through two more Kickstarter campaigns, Priority Bikes grew rapidly, and now offers some eight models, plus three sizes of bikes designed for kids.

As an online business model, Priority Bikes are sold online with local delivery options available. You can choose to complete the final assembly of your Priority Bike at home and you’ll get a box delivered to your front door with the bike mostly ready to go, along with all the tools you’ll need to put it together. Or, you can choose a professional assembly option, with your new bike shipped to a local bike shop for final assembly by a pro.

The Current is Priority Bikes’ only e-bike. Featuring similar elements to those that Priority is known for on its traditional bikes aimed at keeping maintenance as simple as possible, the Current has a mid-drive motor combined with a belt drive for a smooth and efficiently powered ride.
